Simon is our Professional Head of Engineering. A career railwayman, Simon started in the early 1980s as a fitter / electrician on the southern region of BR and worked his way up to become one of the youngest ever Fleet Managers with the launch, in 1998, of VSO-E’s ‘Northern Belle’ train operating company.

 After a period with Railtrack, then Network Rail as a Vehicles Engineer, Simon left the mainstream railway in 2007 to establish his own rail vehicle engineering and safety consultancy. During this period he has provided a range of clients with bespoke rail vehicle engineering solutions from small reliability modifications to complete refurbishment and traction upgrades. He brings with him a wealth of T & RS engineering experience and expertise.
